What is the Definition of a Privacy Policy?
A privacy policy is a legal document that explains how a company or website collects, uses, and shares personal information. Privacy policies should outline what personal information is collected, how the information is used, whether the information is shared with third parties, and what rights users have over their data. Why Does My Website Need a Privacy Policy?
All businesses (including real estate brokerages) are required to have a privacy policy available on their website (whether powered by MoxiWebsites or another vendor). The privacy policy must, in simple language, explain how your organization handles personal information – separate from MoxiWorks’ policy. Your website may be requesting information from consumers through activities like surveys, forms, event registration, signing up to receive market reports or Neighborhood News emails, saving favorite properties, etc. If so, you are required by consumer protection laws to have a policy that states what information you’re keeping and how you will use that information.
Can I use MoxiWorks' Privacy Policy?
MoxiWorks' privacy policy, visible in the footer of MoxiWorks site pages, only applies to how our business manages data (including yours). It does not describe how your brokerage / agents may choose to use and store consumer information.
Can MoxiWorks Write My Privacy Policy for My Company?
While we are experts in productivity software for real estate agents, we aren’t legal experts across the U.S. and Canada as it pertains to liability. You can copy the verbiage from the MoxiWorks privacy policy to cover part of how you collect data (the part that MoxiWorks stores like data in your MoxiEngage CRM).
How Do I Write a Privacy Policy?
Normally, your legal representation can assist you in writing the most appropriate privacy policy. There are also numerous online legal services that can draft a policy for your specific state and use cases.

How Do I Add or Edit My Privacy Policy in MoxiWebsites?
Typically, your privacy policy is added when you set up MoxiWebsites for the first time both for brokerage website customers and for those providing agent website templates. Make sure you are not using the MoxiWorks privacy policy by default, as the language in that policy will not cover your business.
This privacy policy will show as a link in the footer of all pages across your site and your agent sites, keeping you in compliance.
To edit your privacy policy, you’ll need to submit this request form to your Customer Success Manager. It is best practice to update your privacy policy every year.
Is There Anything Else I Should Add to My Privacy Policy?
We suggest the following addition to your MoxiWebsite privacy policy:
When a user navigates to any MoxiWorks supported content then they are bound by the MoxiWorks Terms & Conditions, which can be found at https://moxiworks.com/terms and Privacy Policy, which can be found at https://moxiworks.com/privacy-policy.
How Often Should I Update My Privacy Policy?
It is recommended that you update your privacy policy every year.
